Exodus Chapter 10: The Plagues of Locust and Darkness

Pharaoh continues to be stubborn and not give in, despite the severity of God's plagues. Yet in the midst of the trials, God continues to liberate His people. His unyielding commitment shines brightly and the hardships are used to reveal His power. In the battle of human stubbornness and divine will, God's purpose will always win.

God's Command to Moses (Vs 1-2)

*The Lord sends Moses to Pharaoh with a message and warning of an upcoming locust plague. This is to show the Lord's power for generations to come.

Pharaoh's Stubbornness and the Arrival of Locusts (Vs 3-14)

*Pharaoh still refuses to let all of the Israelites go, despite the advice of his officials.

*His stubbornness causes a catastrophic plague of locusts to be unleashed and devour everything in sight.

Pharaoh's Temporary Repentance and Removal of Locusts(Vs 15-19)

*Pharaoh admits his sin against the Lord, momentarily, and Moses intercedes on Pharaoh's behalf.

*The locusts are then driven away by a strong west wind.

Plague of Darkness and Pharaoh's Ultimatum (Vs 20-29)

*Egypt is engulfed by a thick darkness for three days. Meanwhile, the Israelites remain in the light in Goshen.

*Pharaoh agrees to let go the people but not their livestock.

*Moses tells Pharaoh that the livestock are needed for worship.

*Pharaoh becomes enraged and warns Moses to stay away, threatening death if he sees Moses again.

Observation and Takeaways:

- There is danger in being stubborn and prideful. We must guard our hearts against hardness and let nothing keep us from seeing God's truth. We can pray for discernment and take heed of any warnings God is giving us

- There was purpose in God's hardening of Pharaoh's heart. This allowed them to see the awesome power of God

- We must recognize God's authority in our lives and submit to His will. We can ask Him for clarity and guidance to make sure we are following His command and not our own desires

-God has created all things and has total control over nature and the economy. No matter what the conditions are around us, we can walk in faith and victory under God's provision.

- We can trust God's provision and protection during trials and tough times

- The light of God's glory in our lives will shine through any darkness around us

-God is sovereign and His mighty power will be told of throughout generations. We must continue to share our faith and God's mighty works in our lives to those around us and our future generations
