Why Demons and Narcissists Vie for Your Attention? ~ Dr. Gladys Dark
Demons and narcissists both seek to control and distract because attention equals access. Spiritually, the enemy’s goal is to divert your focus from God and your divine purpose. Scripture reminds us that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world” (Ephesians 6:12). Narcissists, driven by pride and a hunger for validation, mirror this spiritual pattern — they manipulate to gain emotional control, keeping you off balance and bound to their approval. When your attention is consumed by these forces, your peace, purpose, and identity in Christ are weakened.
How to Combat It:
1 – Recognize the pattern and discern the spirit at work.
2 – Set boundaries to protect your mind, time, and relationships.
3 – Renew your identity daily in Christ through prayer and Scripture.
4 – Redirect your focus toward worship, the Word, and community.
5 – Pray boldly for deliverance and clarity.
6 – Forgive and release those who hurt you so you remain free.
7 – Seek spiritual counsel or prayer covering when needed.
When you stop feeding the need for attention, the enemy loses power. Stand firm, clothed in the armor of God, anchored in His Word, and guard your focus — because where your attention goes, your power flows.
