Genesis chapter 1 – In the Beginning
Summary:Genesis 1 opens the Bible with the profound declaration: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” This sets the stage for everything else in Scripture — God is the eternal, sovereign Creator. Over the course of six days, God transforms a formless, empty world into a vibrant, ordered creation.
Day 1: Light is spoken into existence, separating day from night.
Day 2: God creates the expanse (sky), separating waters above from waters below.
Day 3: Land emerges, seas are gathered, and vegetation appears — plants, trees, and seed-bearing life.
Day 4: Sun, moon, and stars are placed in the heavens to govern days, seasons, and years.
Day 5: God fills the waters with living creatures and the sky with birds, blessing them to multiply.
Day 6: Land animals are created, and then humanity — male and female — is made in His image and likeness, entrusted with dominion over the earth.
Day 7 (Genesis 2:1-3): Though technically in the next chapter, God rests, blessing and sanctifying the seventh day.
After each stage, God sees His work as “good,” and at the completion of creation, He declares it “very good.”
Personal Observations:
God’s Creative Authority is Absolute
Everything begins with “And God said…” — His voice carries ultimate creative power. There is no struggle or rivalry in creation; His Word alone is enough.
Order and Structure Are in His Nature
God doesn’t create everything all at once in a chaotic explosion. He moves in a deliberate sequence — first forming, then filling. This mirrors how He works in our lives: bringing order before adding increase.
Humanity is Set Apart
Being made in His image means we share in His moral, relational, and creative capacities. This is the foundation of our identity — we are not accidents of nature, but intentional reflections of God’s character.
Blessing Precedes Responsibility
Before giving Adam and Eve their assignment to “be fruitful and have dominion,” God blesses them. His pattern shows that empowerment comes before expectation.
Creation is an Expression of God’s Goodness
God delights in His work. That “very good” pronouncement isn’t just a quality check — it’s a revelation of His joy in His creation, including you and me.
Practical Application:
Speak Life Into Your World
Your words carry influence. If God’s Word brings light into darkness, then your speech should also align with truth, encouragement, and blessing.
Trust the Process
Just as creation unfolded in stages, God’s work in your life is progressive. Don’t rush the “forming” stage — it’s preparation for the “filling” stage.
Walk in Identity Before Assignment
You are made in His image before you are given a task. Let who you are in Christ shape what you do for Him.
Value and Protect Creation
Stewardship is not optional — it’s part of humanity’s original mandate. This includes caring for the environment, resources, and the people entrusted to you.
Honor Rest as Holy
Rest isn’t laziness; it’s alignment with God’s rhythm. Set aside intentional time to stop, reflect, and recharge in His presence.
Reflection Questions for Study and Sharing. Answer below:
Where in your life right now is God bringing order before increase?
How can you partner with His creative process in faith?
God has allowed me to position myself as a certified minority, woman-owned business, and I truly believe He is using this status to set up my bloodline for generational wealth. I also see Him bringing order in my family, especially with my adult children, who sometimes bring drama into my life. God is showing me that I need calm, quiet, and peace to manifest, speak, and create — just as He did in Genesis — without the distractions of conflict, confusion, or chaos.
I believe that, like Joseph, sometimes God sends some of us ahead of our bloodline to save generations to come. I am cooperating with the Holy Spirit by embracing this season, maintaining peace, and stewarding my business and personal life in a way that will leave a lasting legacy of faith, salvation, and wealth. I am allowing Him to position me for the sake of those who will come after me, both spiritually and financially, and to get “money as an issue” out of the way, to become truly a Kingdom financier. Because most of the issues in our lives can be solved by money as said in Ecclesiastes 10:19.
We cannot be effective in Kingdom work without money.
***Probably every issue you are facing right now is a money issue.***
