Psalm 65
THEME: GOD PROVIDES ABUNDANTLY. WE CAN BE THANKFUL TO GOD FOR HIS MANY BLESSINGS.
(65:1-5),
A vow mentioned in this verse is a promise to God for His answers to their prayers. Even though they were overwhelmed by their sins, God forgives them all. All they had to do was have a sincere heart and ask. Access to God and the joy of living in the temple court was a great honor. God had chosen a special group of Israelites to serve as priests and servants in the Tabernacle. God faithfully answered their prayers with wondrous deeds, and they were very thankful.
(65:6-13),
This psalm glorifies God the creator as reflected in the beauty of nature. Nature helps us understand something of God's character. His creativity, care, and generosity. We see his creative handiwork in the mountains, ocean, sunsets, rivers, meadows, and valleys. The people of Israel believe that God‘s care of nature shows his love and care for them. The psalmist writes about how God crowned the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance. What an awesome God we serve!
MY OBSERVATION:
In Psalm 65, David praised God as the Provider of good things, including a harvest large enough to sustain His people. Despite many sins, the good news is that God can and will forgive them all. If we ask for forgiveness, God is faithful and will forgive our sins and clean us from all unrighteousness.
David thanked God for the redemptive work shown towards His people through specific acts, answering prayer, forgiving sins, producing joy and satisfaction, and extending protection and provision.
We should not hesitate to confess our sins, even though no one is beyond redemption in the worst of sin. No one is so full of sin that he or she cannot be forgiven and made clean.
Understanding God’s abundant generosity should make us grateful to God and want to be generous to others.
1 Peter 4:8, “Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.
