Psalm 84
Psalm 84:1-2
Your dwelling place is lovely Dear God. My soul yearns and even faints for the courts of the Lord and my heart and flesh cry out to be with the living God.
Psalm 84:3-4
The sparrow finds a home there and a nest to protect her young that is near the altar of God. Those that dwell inside your house sing your praises forever.
Psalm 84:5-7
Those who find strength in you are blessed as their hearts are set for the journey of life. As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place for springs and the rain of autumn cover it like a pool. They, those that believe, grow stronger and stronger as each appear before God in Jerusalem (Zion).
Psalm 84:8-10
God, please hear my prayer and listen to me Dear God, the God of Jacob. Look upon our anointed one dear God with favor, looking on our shield. It is more favorable to be in the courts of God for one day than thousands of days elsewhere. We would rather be one of those who keep the doors to the temple covered and protected than to dwell in the houses of the wicked.
Psalm 84:11-12
For you are the Lord our God, our sun and our shield. You bestow favor and honor upon us withholding no good thing from your people who walk blamelessly. Blessed is the one who trusts in you, Lord God Almighty.
Overview and Observation
Thank you for this psalm of thanksgiving and praise for the wonderful presence of God. We bless God for your always residing within Your temple walls. We are thankful that we can find Him there always and that it is a place of comfort and peace for all of us who are believers. It is a reminder that there is great strength to be found in the presence of God. We are reminded that we remember, believe and feel the presence of God and need this presence with us all the day long, all of our life long. Help us to forever sing your praises and give you Glory for your greatness and your goodness towards us. Your promise to hold no good thing from us is amazing and a promise that we can rest our faith upon forever. We love you, trust you and depend on your presence, Please don’t take your presence from us, dear God. Amen.
