Psalms Chapter 62: Waiting on God
This chapter speaks of the power of having unshakeable trust in God and the peace that comes from it. David had a steadfast faith and determined belief in God's ultimate control over all things and how to get through the storms we face in life.
Seeking Refuge in God (Vs 1-2)
*David declares that his soul waits in silence for God, affirming that God is his salvation, fortress, and rock.
*David expresses his steadfast faith and that he will not be shaken.
Rebuke of the Wicked (Vs 3-4)
*David laments those who intend to do evil against him and seek to take him down from his high position.
*He compares their lives to a tottering fence, fragile and unstable.
An Exhortation to Trust in God (Vs 5-8)
*David expresses his reliance on God and encourages others to trust in God at all times.
*David presents God as the ultimate refuge, power, and steadfast love.
The Vanity of Earthly Power and Wealth (Vs 9-10)
*David proclaims the loneliness and transience of men of both high and low estate.
*David warns against trusting in exhortation or setting your heart on wealth.
God's Power and Steadfast Love (Vs 11- 12)
*David acknowledges God's power, steadfast love, and ultimate control over all things.
*David concludes with the assurance that God will reward every person according to their deeds.
Personal Observation and Takeaways:
- We can trust in God and wait on Him. Our soul will find rest in God alone and not worldly sources
-We can have full reliance on God as our protector
-We should always trust God over people
-We will find rest and peace when we seek God's presence
-We can remind ourselves that God is powerful and compassionate when we feel weak or afraid
